Materia is obtained through converting items that have reached 100% of its ‘spiritbond’. generally just don't bother worrying about tenacity one way or the other. In FFXIV A Realm Reborn, materia items which you ‘meld’ into equipment for bonus stats. Tenacity is "meh." it's not bad enough to try and avoid, but it's also not good enough to seek it out. for warrior promote determination to second. if something is good? it's better than det. determination is kinda the "old faithfull" of substats. (but just FYI i hit 5 and i actively tried to AVOID skillspeed on my gear. ping and framerate are also a factor here so i can't tell you how much you need, i'd suggest hitting a striking dummy and just seeing if it works. if your skillspeed is EXTREMELY slow, you might only be able to fit 4. a good example is making sure you GET those 5 global cooldowns during every inner release. so i won't call it BAD, but you almost never bother to MELD it.

ideally you want to tune your GcD just a little bit to optimize your rotation, but after that adding even MORE skillspeed is very close to worthless, and most of the time players hit these skillspeed thresholds by accident with skillspeed their gear has incidentally anyway. Skill speed on tanks is more nuanced than spellspeed on the casters. at lvl 60 direct hit didn't exist yet so nobody bothered to really go back and test it as far as i know.) (at level 80, 2,500 is the threshold where crit beats DH. you don't want a dead stat on a third of your damage.įor paladin, dark knight, and gunbreaker, direct hit is still a strong second place or even first if your crit is somehow very low. so even though inner release only represents around 10% of a warriors TIME fighting, it ends up being closer to 35% of their damage DONE.

then those 5 are some of their BEST GcDs because of the free beast gauge aspect of inner release. then unlike say mch for example, where reassemble forces a direct crit but it's 1 GcD every 55 seconds, for warrior its 5 GcD every 90 seconds.

so if your ability is forcing you to directly hit ANYWAY, your direct hit STAT isn't doing anything. while crit as a stat loves this, because the stat increases crit rate AND crit value, direct hit only effects direct RATE. Inner release forces all attacks to be direct hits and crits. Then direct hit is still second best, but with one SIGNIFICANT exception: direct hit is "bad" on warrior.

but thats gonna have to be up to you.Ĭrit is still king in anything close to "current" item level.

personally i have RDM, BLM, and SMN all at 80 and i meld for crit and direct hit, they gotta share gear and a no speed BLM is just BARELY worse than a full speed BLM, whereas a full speed RDM is a lot worse than a no speed RDM. Spell speed is odd in that you want to AVOID it for everything but BLM. nothing wrong with it but it's unlikely that any amount of determination you can get is actually gonna change the way you heal (whereas if a heal CRITS, it might save you a whole other heal later.) so it's probably not worth downgrading from direct hit to determination, but nobody would blame you either. on your healers this downgrades to a strong maybe, heals can't directly hit (they CAN crit however) but this is your second best offensive stat.

(we're pretty much at the "end" of level 80 as far as item level is concerned)įor second best consideration (cuz sometimes a piece has capped crit)ĭirect hit. If you had asked this question a year ago there would have been a lot more nuance, but crit has a neat effect of "growing better" as you get more of it, and with current gear it's pretty hard to NOT cross the threshold where crit just wins for every job.
